Accrington Stanley ready for “memorable day”

Accrington Stanley are gearing up for the biggest game in the women’s team’s history on Sunday, when they play FA Women’s National League side Huddersfield Town in the Second Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

To make the occasion extra special for the North West Women’s League Division One North, their match against a team which was playing Tier 3 football last season will be played at the Wham Stadium. Accrington Stanley are currently embarking on their best run to date in the competition and reached this stage with a 1-0 victory away to Rossington Main in the last round.

Kick off at the Wham Stadium is at 1pm, with tickets priced at £2.50 per person, while matchday hospitality is also available in Stanley’s world class hospitality venue, priced at £20 per person, including both a match ticket and a one-course meal.

Alongside matchday hospitality in the 1968 Lounge, Coley’s will also be open from 11am for supporters to enjoy a drink before and after the game, while the kiosk will be open behind the Farleys Solicitors Stand (Clayton End).

For what will be one of Accrington Stanley Women’s biggest games to date, they will also be inviting the 250+ players currently registered with the club to cheer on the first team at the Wham Stadium.

Match tickets can be purchased online here: https://www.venuetoolbox.com/AccringtonStanley/ASP/bookTickets.asp with tickets available under the ‘Other Matches & Events’ tab, while hospitality tickets can be purchased by calling 01254 356950 (OPT 2).

James Mallett, Head Coach of Accrington Stanley Women, said: “We couldn’t be prouder of the intensity, effort, and ongoing commitment this group

has shown over the last few weeks. As I mentioned in the previous round, they’ve already made history for the club and done it in style. For a new

group of players, this has been an incredible start to the season, and their resilience speaks volumes about their character.

“We know the odds are against us given the quality of the opposition and what they’re capable of, but this is the cup - anything can happen. We’ll

give it everything we’ve got and leave it all on the pitch.”

Sami Smithson, Chairperson of Accrington Stanley Women, added: “We are really excited for what is going to be a memorable day for the club at

the Wham Stadium.

“Playing in the second round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history is a deserved reward for everyone involved with Accrington

Stanley Women and we are really embracing it.

“To be back playing at the Wham Stadium is also very important for us, and we are looking forward to seeing the community coming out and

supporting us.”
