Agyemang worst fears confirmed

In a significant blow to both club and country, England forward Michelle Agyemang has confirmed she will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The 19-year-old, a pivotal figure in England’s Euro 2025 triumph, suffered the injury during the Lionesses’ 3-0 victory over Australia.

Agyemang, currently on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion from Arsenal, was stretchered off after a non-contact incident just 13 minutes after coming on as a second half substitute. The young star shared her devastation on Instagram, stating: “Disappointed that results show a torn ACL. I am so grateful for all the kind words and support from everyone. Recovery starts now, I will be back stronger than before.”

Brighton & Hove Albion, in collaboration with Arsenal, the Football Association, and the England medical team, will support Agyemang through her rehabilitation. A club statement from Brighton read: “Everyone at Albion sends all their support to Michelle as she begins her recovery, with her wellbeing foremost in all of our minds.”

Agyemang was instrumental in England’s Euro 2025 campaign, scoring crucial goals off the bench in the quarter final against Sweden and the semi final against Italy. Her performances earned her a nomination for the prestigious Kopa Trophy, awarded to the world’s best Under-21 women’s player.

Women’s Soccer Scene wishes Michelle a swift and full recovery as she embarks on her journey back to the pitch.
