Bronze and Beever-Jones win England awards

Thousands of fans cast their votes to name Lucy Bronze the England Women’s Player of the Year 2024–25, connected by EE.

In a historic year for the Lionesses, Bronze was voted by fans as the standout player, finishing ahead of Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton, who placed second and third respectively.

The defender, who played a pivotal role in England’s UEFA EURO 2025 victory this summer, made 16 appearances - 15 of which were starts - for the Lionesses throughout the 2024–25 season, finding the net five times and making an abundance of crucial defensive and attacking contributions. Two unforgettable moments came during the quarter-final victory against Sweden, as her 79th minute header got England back into contention and her decisive penalty in the shootout earned a place in the last four. She played 106 minutes in the Final victory against Spain, that saw the Lionesses make history and earn back-to-back EURO wins.

Bronze was presented the award by Georgia Stanway in front of the Lionesses players and staff at St. George’s Park, with Stanway praising Bronze’s leadership and impact on the team.

Thanking the fans for their support, Bronze said: “I wasn’t expecting it but it’s always nice to get recognition, especially from England fans. I adore playing for England and I have put my heart and soul into every game over the last 12 years. In that respect, it’s a huge honour and especially after such a crazy year with the EUROs. I’m very proud.

“For me, 2015 was a real starting point as an England player; 2019, I feel like that’s when I was hitting my peak as an individual, but this year has been something that I couldn’t have imagined. The way we won the EUROs, the noise around it and women’s football in general this year has been out of this world.”

Aggie Beever-Jones has been presented with the England Women’s top goalscorer in association with M&S Food for the 2024-25 season.

After making her England senior debut in July 2024, Beever-Jones scored six times in ten appearances in a memorable season that culminated in her first major tournament and helping England to win UEFA EURO 2025.

The forward was surprised with the award at St. George’s Park by fellow Lioness and Chelsea teammate Niamh Charles, with help from Reggie the dog who has become a regular presence around the team.

The forward’s first goal for her country came in a dominant 5-0 victory against Belgium in the UEFA Women's Nations League at Ashton Gate, Bristol in April 2025.

Beever-Jones then netted a remarkable 30-minute hat-trick on her first senior start, at Wembley Stadium against Portugal in the UEFA Women's Nations League in May 2025. The treble saw her become only the second Lioness, alongside team mate Beth Mead, to score an international hat-trick in the national stadium.

On receiving the award, Beever-Jones said: “It’s definitely been a year to remember in terms of Chelsea and England. To come away with the top goalscorer is something that didn’t even occur to me or had in my thoughts, so it’s a nice little surprise to end a great year.

“I look back to the hat-trick at Wembley and it’s definitely something that sticks out for me. My mum and dad used to take me to Cobham every day for training and on the A3 there’s one part where you can see the Wembley arch and they’d always say, ‘just keep going and maybe one day, you’ll play there’. It was my first start at Wembley and a hat-trick in 33 minutes which is a number that means a lot to me at Chelsea, everything just fell into place and it was definitely a nice takeaway from 2024-25.”

She also hit the net in the 7-0 EURO 2025 ‘send-off’ victory against Jamaica.

Beever-Jones added a major tournament goal to her name, as she struck in the 89th minute of England’s 6-1 win over Wales in their concluding group stage match of UEFA EURO 2025. The Lionesses’ memorable run continued and they went on to make history securing back-to-back European titles following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Spain.

England are preparing for a run of international fixtures as part of their ‘Homecoming Series’ kicking off with a match against Brazil at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday 25 October. The Lionesses will then make their first ever visit to Pride Park, home of Derby County FC, to face Australia on Tuesday 28 October. The series continues with two further matches in November against China at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE, and Ghana in Southampton.
