England name Euro 2025 squad   

The Lionesses squad that will have the honour of representing England at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland has been named.

Sarina Wiegman confirmed her 23 players led by captain Leah Williamson at St. George’s Park today. All selected were involved in the UEFA Women’s

Nations League fixtures against Portugal and Spain this past fortnight, along with the returning Lauren James.

The squad includes 13 players who made history in lifting the trophy in 2022. Seven players – Michelle Agyemang, Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton,

Khiara Keating, Maya Le Tissier, Anna Moorhouse and Jess Park - will be appearing at their first major tournament. In contrast Lucy Bronze is set for her seventh major tournament and her fourth consecutive EURO. Notably 22 of the 23-player squad have been capped for the Young Lionesses at development team level.  

Discussing her selection, Wiegman said: “I know this is an exciting day, for the players and also for our fans and it underlines that the tournament is coming soon. Telling the players they have made the squad is always a great moment. They will all give everything to help us make the country proud. This group is a very well-balanced mix of players with multiple tournaments on their CVs and also those that will make their tournament debuts. I am excited to see what we are capable of this summer.

“At the same time, I do feel for those that have just missed out. I can only name 23 but there are more players who have been so important to us on our journey to Switzerland. We would not be here without them.

“As we look forward, we still have a month to go until we play the first game. After some important rest, we will all be working really hard to make sure we are ready to go on 5 July.”

England have a send-off match with Jamaica at Leicester City on Sunday 29 June before departing for the finals the following day. Tickets are still available here.

At the EURO, they will first take on France in Zurich on Saturday 5 July before a meeting with the Netherlands in the same city four days later [Wednesday 9 July]. The group stage concludes with Wales on Sunday 13 July in St. Gallen.

Four players will be on standby for the tournament – Sophie Baggaley [Brighton & Hove Albion], Laura Blindkilde Brown [Manchester City], Missy Bo Kearns [Aston Villa] and Lucy Parker [Aston Villa]. They will stay with the squad at St. George’s Park from the meet-up on Monday 16 June through to the day the squad travel to Switzerland on Monday 30 June.

The three US-based players in the squad – Anna Moorhouse, Jess Carter and Esme Morgan – will all link up with the rest of the Lionesses from week commencing 23 June after the continuation of their domestic season.

To mark the moment, England’s channels have released two celebratory films. The first of which telling fans ‘it’s time to go again’ was released yesterday [Wednesday 4 June] and is available to view here.

The films feature a host of iconic names from across sport, music, television and comedy. Maisie Adam, David Beckham, Jude Bellingham, Karen Carney, Rachel Daly, Keely Hodgkinson, Vick Hope, Harry Kane, Daisy May Cooper, Scott Mills, Molly Rainford, Harriet Rose, Bukayo Saka, Alex Scott, Sophia Thakur, Jade Thirlwall, Ellen White, Ian Wright and, of course, England’s head coach all feature.

The videos are directed by the renowned director and photographer Madeleine Penfold, and soundtracked by Jamie xx, founding member of The XX and one of England’s most revered DJs.
