FA Women’s National League


Southern Premier Division `


Hashtag Utd continued their good form since the restart with a second successive victory, this time beating Plymouth Argyle 2-0. Samantha Rowland got the Tags off to a great start when she gave them the lead after twelve minutes and Honor Norton clinched the result which takes her side back to the top of the table when she scored the second, seventeen minutes from time.


AFC Wimbledon meanwhile replaced Oxford Utd in fourth place after winning their meeting 1-0. Ashlee Hincks scored the only goal of the game, just ahead of half time to take the Dons into their highest position of the season so far.


Division One North


Things remain tight amongst the top five teams but Cheadle Town Stingers have regained the leadership following their 1-0 success away to Durham Cestria. A second half goal from Isobel Dean was enough to see the Stingers replace Chorley at the top of the table.


Middlesbrough have moved to within a single point of third placed Leeds Utd after beating them 1-0 in the other match to be played. Rebecca Ferguson netetd the only goal of the game to give ‘Boro an important win against one of their rivals.  


Division One Midlands


It was a good day for leaders Northampton Town as they increased their advantage to five points with a 4-1 win away to Notts County. Leah Hardy did give County the lead, midway through the first half, before Paige Ridley brought Northampton back on level terms just before half time and after the break, Jemima Footitt put them ahead for the first time and they went on to seal the points with further strikes from Faith Horner and Fay Noble.


To make things better for the Cobblers, second placed Peterborough Utd were beaten for only the third time this season, 1-0 by Boldmere St Michaels. Ridhi Ruparella settled matters in the Mikes’ favour when she scored the only goal of the game just before half time.


Loughborough Lightning remain well placed, just behind the top three and possessing games in hand, and they stepped up their challenge by scoring ten times without reply past Lincoln Utd. Lauren Purchase bagged a first half hat-trick and Jessica Collyer weighed in with a brace, while Zynia Delglyn, Sarah Woodbyrne, Lydia Tilbury-Henry, Jade Arber and Evie Williams joined them on the scoresheet.  


Division One South East


The top of the table clash ended with honours even as leaders Chatham Town and second placed Real Bedford battled out a goalless draw. The result means that the Chats remain on top of the table with a two point lead over their opponents, whilst Actonians Ladies are a further point adrift in third.


Norwich City are back up into the top four after their improving form continued with a 7-0 victory over Ashford Town (Middlesex). Natasha Snelling led the scoring for the Canaries with a four-goal haul and she was joined on the scoresheet by Holly Kennard, Freya Symonds and Shannon Shaw.


Cambridge Utd were the other winners on the day, 1-0 against London Seaward. Alysha Stojko-Down netted the only goal of the game to take the U’s up into a mid-table position.  


Division One South West


Swindon Town have gone three points clear at the top after running out 5-0 winners over Southampton Women. Elise Haines and Sahara Osborne-Ricketts ensured that the Wiltshire side were two ahead at the interval and they went on to add further goals in the second half through Libby Davies, Jessica Smith and Annabelle Colston.


Two of the division’s form teams came face to face and it was Moneyfields who lifted themselves into second place after beating Keynsham Town 4-0. Lucy Cooper gave the Moneys the lead just ahead of half time and it was Shannon Albuery who crowned the result with a five-minute hat-trick late on.


Worthing maintained their improving form when they defeated Bournemouth Sports 7-1. Tierney Scott had a great day in front of goal, scoring four times in all, whilst Lauren Amerena contributed a brace and Georgia Tibble added the other.


Reserve Section round-up


One match managed to beat the weather in the Northern Division, Stockport County winning 4-2 away to Chorley. Latisha Hill, Elle Turner, Clara Butler and Elizabeth Summers were all on target for County, with Paige Hodkinson and Hanna Chlodek replying.


Doncaster Rovers Belles have leapfrogged Sutton Coldfield Town in the Midland Division table, into third place after winning their meeting 2-1 with goals from Brooke Johnson-Rolfe and Maisie Everitt, whilst the home side’s consolation came from Holly Payton. Rugby Borough meanwhile picked up their third league victory of the season, 4-2 against Notts County.


In the South West Division, Kristina MacKinnon scored the only goal of the game as leaders AFC Bournemouth further stretched their advantage to eleven points by winning 1-0 against Swindon Town. In the other game, Moneyfields netted six times without reply past Exeter City, Grace Smith hitting a hat-trick along with others from Erin Sherwood, Brooke Garcia and Poppie Weekes.
