Genero Adran Leagues

The weather intervened on the scheduled last day before the split in the Genero Adran Premier, with only one of the four scheduled matches being completed.

That match came at The New Saints where the home side ran out 5-0 winners over Cardiff Met Women, to move themselves back up above Briton Ferry Llansawel into second place, four points behind leaders Cardiff City. Chantelle Teare, Maria Francis-Jones and Helen Evens put TNS three goals ahead at half time, with Kayleigh Baker and Francis-Jones adding further strikes after the break to emphatically put an end to their three match spell without a victory.

Cardiff City had attempted to start their match against Aberystwyth Town but a waterlogged pitch put paid to any chances of finishing, the game having to be abandoned at half time with Ffion Price and Fiona Barry having put the Bluebirds 2-0 ahead at the time.

The league announced on Sunday evening that the other three matches required to complete Phase One will be played in midweek. Swansea City v Wrexham has been rearranged for Wednesday 26 February (KO 7.30pm), as has the abandoned game between Cardiff City and Aberystwyth Town (KO 8pm), while Briton Ferry Llansawel v Barry Town Utd has been rearranged for Thursday 27 February (KO 7.45pm).

The Phase Two fixtures will be released at 10am on Thursday 27 February, with Phase Two beginning as previously planned on Sunday 2 March.

Genero Adran North

The Genero Adran North was also badly hit by the weather, only one of the four games managing to be played.

Llanfair Utd continued their pursuit of leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads with a 4-1 victory away to Flint Town Utd, reducing the gap to five points in the process. Ruby Hastings did get Flint off to a great start by putting them in front midway through the first half, but three goals in a ten minute spell ahead of the interval turned things in Llanfair’s favour, Sophie Cook bringing them back on level terms and Harriet Davies hitting a quickfire brace. Davies went on to put the seal on the win as she completed her hat-trick in injury time.

Genero Adram South

With table toppers Pontypridd Utd not having a game, the chasing teams had the opportunity to make up ground and the top five teams in the table are covered by only three points.

The Mighty Dragons keep hold of the leadership, but now only on goal difference from Swansea University, who ran out 5-1 winners over Caldicot Town. After Macey Morris had given Caldicot the lead, Charley Haynes brought Swansea back on terms before the break and a half time substitution proved to be a remarkably good decision - Annabel Stokes entering the fray and bagging four second half goals to give the students’ title challenge a huge boost. A win would have seen Cwmbran Celtic got back to the top but they went down 1-0 to Cascade Youth Club who are now only three points off the pace, Annaliese Lewis scoring the only goal of the game to keep Cascade’s own promotion hopes alive. In the other game, Penybont Women made sure of staying firmly in contention by beating Llanelli Town 5-1. Mollie Jones and Maddie Priday each netted twice for Penybont and Layla Williams added the other, whilst Llanelli’s consolation came via a late own goal.
