Genero Adran Leagues
There is still no let up in the Genero Adran Premier title race after both Cardiff City and Wrexham secured victories on Sunday afternoon.
Cardiff remain top of the table by a single point following a hard fought 2-1 win over Swansea City in the capital. The Bluebirds took the lead on 28 minutes when Fiona Barry played through Lily Billingham, who produced a cool chip over Swansea goalkeeper Amelia Forkings. The visitors levelled just six minutes later, however, as Eilish Mitchell’s cross deceived Ceryn Chamberlain and crept into the net. The first half drama continued four minutes before the break when Cardiff regained the advantage. Excellent work from Mackenzie Olden on the right flank led to a dangerous cross that Laura Curnock turned home for her 12th league goal of the season.
That proved to be the winner as Cardiff claimed back-to-back victories over their south Wales rivals, while Swansea’s own title hopes were effectively ended by the defeat.
Wrexham, who have played one game fewer than Cardiff, remain hot on the reigning champions’ heels after a 1-0 away win at The New Saints. Both sides created opportunities in a cagey opening hour, but it was Wrexham who broke the deadlock in the 67th minute through a superb solo goal from substitute Faye Knox. The 21-year-old dribbled between Lia Lewis and Zara Gibbs, ghosted past Kay Baker and finished neatly past Orla Howard. That goal proved decisive, while TNS finished the match with nine players after Mia Davies and Yasmin Evans were both shown second yellow cards late on.
Aberystwyth Town scored a late equaliser to claim a 1-1 draw away at Plate Conference leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel. The hosts took the lead after just five minutes when Jess Denscombe produced a sensational 30-yard strike – her first league goal since September 2024, which also came against Aberystwyth. Rhys James’ side were left to rue a host of missed opportunities, however, as Aberystwyth levelled through Libby Isaac with just eight minutes remaining.
The draw means Barry Town United are now just one point off top spot in the Plate Conference after they cruised to a 3-0 home victory over Pontypridd United. The contest remained goalless for almost an hour before Beca Thomas opened the scoring in the 57th minute, netting for the second successive game. Erin Murray doubled the advantage from the penalty spot shortly afterwards, before providing an assist for substitute Lauren Payne – a former Pontypridd player – to score her first goal for Barry and seal the win.
Genero Adran North
Connah’s Quay Nomads secured the Genero Adran North title for the second successive season with a 2-0 home victory over Flint Town United. The Nomads knew victory would clinch top spot and wasted little time, with Phoebe Ellis firing them in front after just five minutes. Flint goalkeeper Shaunacy Kennedy was sent off on 28 minutes for handling outside the area, and Mel Barlow doubled the advantage from the resulting free kick. With a numerical advantage, Jordan Parry’s side comfortably saw out the remainder of the contest to claim the championship.
The result ended Llanfair United’s title challenge, although Lucie Gwilt’s side still claimed a 3-0 victory over Berriew at Mount Field. Sophie Cook opened the scoring in the 21st minute before adding a second midway through the second half. Harriet Davies, who had set up Cook’s first goal, completed the scoring late on. Llanfair now look certain to finish in second place, matching their achievement from last season.
Llandudno recorded only their second league win of the season as they defeated bottom-of-the-table Bangor 2-1 at the Go Goodwins Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Maddie Williams broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart and she doubled the advantage shortly after the hour mark. A late own goal from Jasmin Dutton gave Bangor a consolation, but Llandudno held on to climb to fifth in the table.
Genero Adran South
Newly crowned Genero Adran South champions Cardiff Met Women were held to a 1-1 draw away at Cascade YC. Met took the lead on the hour mark in Ystrad Mynach through Molly Chapman against her former club. However, Cascade substitute Megan Waite equalised in the 78th minute – just eight minutes after coming off the bench – to extend her side’s unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions.
Taffs Well earned a vital three points in the relegation battle with a 3-0 victory over Llanelli Town. The two sides went into the fixture level on points at the bottom of the table, but Taffs Well took the lead inside the first minute through Rianne Jones. Jones turned provider early in the second half, setting up 17-year-old Emily Davies for her first senior goal, before completing her own brace late on to seal the win. The Wellwomen are now three points clear of Llanelli with just one game remaining.
Cwmbran Celtic climbed to fourth in the table with a 3-0 win over second placed Carmarthen Town .Celtic made a flying start and were two goals up inside 22 minutes thanks to strikes from Fiona Anthony and Hollie Channing – the latter netting her first league goal for the club. Georgia Shwartz’s side added a third in the final ten minutes through Macey Morris to secure a first win in four league games.
