Malou Marcetto joins London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Danish talent Malou Marcetto from Spanish Liga F side Madrid CFF.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, marking an exciting addition to the Barclays WSL club as they look to strengthen their squad.

Marcetto brings valuable experience from top European leagues. She began her senior career at Brøndby IF in Denmark's Kvindeligaen, having progressed through the club's academy. Between 2020 and 2023, she made 51 senior appearances and enjoyed a standout 2021-22 campaign, scoring nine goals to help Brøndby finish third in the league.

The Denmark Under-23 international then moved to Dijon FCO in France's D1 Féminine, where she became a regular in the side. She joined Madrid CFF in the summer of 2024 and went on to feature consistently in Liga F, making 40 league appearances and contributing five goals and seven assists.

On the international stage, Marcetto has represented Denmark across multiple youth levels, including U16, U17, U19 and U23. She played a key role in European Championship qualifying campaigns, scoring four goals in nine matches during the U17 qualifiers and adding four goals in 11 caps for the U19 side ahead of the 2022 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship qualifiers.

Speaking about her move to London City Lionesses, Marcetto told their official website at www.londoncitylionesses.com: “I feel very excited and so happy to be here. The facilities are great and the people I’ve met have made me feel really welcome.

“England just reminds me of, and makes me think of, football. It’s the biggest football country, in my opinion. Women’s football is growing here and it’s going to be a very competitive league to play in, I’m really excited to be here and get started.“
