McGovern receives Scotland recall

Melissa Andreatta has named her squad that will kick off the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers next

month.

Hibernian forward Kathleen McGovern returns following injury whilst fellow attacker Maria McAneny retains her place

after scoring on her senior debut to secure a 1-1 draw in injury time against Ukraine in November.

Seven of the eight players who made their Scotland debuts in 2025 will start this year’s qualification campaign with 52-capped Martha Thomas dropping out of selection.

Defender Leah Eddie also drops out and is replaced by Charlotte Newsham. The 25-year-old was called into the senior squad for the first time last May, replacing Amy Rodgers who suffered a broken jaw against Austria during the 2025 UEFA Nations League campaign.

Scotland will kick off their qualifiers with a Luxembourg double header and the first home fixture in the calendar will take place at Barclays Hampden on Saturday 7 March (kick off 5pm).

Tickets are available for the match at Barclays Hampden priced at Adults - £10, Concessions - £5, Under-16 and SSC Members Free.

Scotland closed out 2025 with a draw against Ukraine and a 3-2 win against China PR in November’s international friendlies.
