Regional Leagues round-up…
East Midlands League
Lincoln Utd extended their Premier Division lead to five points with a 4-0 victory away to Ilkeston Town. Ellie Gilliatt (2), Lauren Churcher and Alice Hayes scored the goals to earn Lincoln a sixth straight victory. Isabel Sullivan netted a hat-trick along with Alana Crawford, Laura Porritt, Georgia Gladwin and Jessica Shaw as Basford Utd won 7-3 at Anstey Nomads, a result which lifts them up to third.
In Division One North, SJR Worksop moved themselves up into second place when Sarah Harvey and Beth Gingell gave them a 2-0 victory over Gainsborough Trinity. Skegness Town meanwhile claimed their first win of the season, 2-1 at Grimsby Borough thanks to Jazmine Jeffery and Sheridan Simons.
Division One Central leaders Arnold Eagles were beaten for the first time, 3-2 by Asfordby Amateurs for whom Sarah Brown hit a hat-trick. A win for Notts County Development would have taken them level on points with the leaders but instead they went down 2-1 Loughborough Foxes Vixens, Renae Huggan-Broughton scoring both goals. Beaumont Park moved themselves into the top three by beating West Bridgford Colts 6-2, Tahli Spence scoring four times and Carmelina Colangelo adding the other two.
Thrapston Town have opened up a lead of five points at the top of Division One South following their 4-0 success atr New Bradwell St Peter, Hannah Pendred scoring twice along with Katherine Ford and an own goal. Abbie Brewin meanwhile hit a hat-trick for third placed Kettering Town in their 8-2 victory over Cardea Ladies, with Lauren Adams (2), Lucy Hibberd, Mikaela Welford and Sophie Till also getting on the scoresheet.
Mansfield Town booked their place in the quarter finals of the League Cup when goals from Erin James, Eve Shaw, Grace Shipman and Olivia Wheatcroft fired them to a 4-0 victory over Grimsby Town. Laura Dodwell and Cassie Steward were both on target for Stamford AFC Women as they defeated Dunton & Broughton Utd 2-0.
In the League Plate, Chesterfield ran out 4-0 winners away to Sleaford Town to go through to the last eight, Imogen Fowler hitting a hat-trick and Chelsea Bailey adding the other. Polly Lees-Collier (2) and Katie Fish gave Sherwood FC Women a 3-1 victory over Retford FC Ladies and Leicester City Ladies netted ten times without reply past Sandiacre Town, with Hollie Handisides, Keira Henfrey and Rachel Akinyemi all hitting hat-tricks and Anna Whitehead also on target.
Eastern Region League
League leaders Real Bedford did not play on Sunday and their advantage has been trimmed to seven points by Haringey Borough, who won 4-1 away to AFC Dunstable. Victoria Campbell scored twice along with Amber Leighton and Kylie Manktelow to take Haringey up to second, ahead of Wroxham who were beaten 3-2 by Stevenage Women, whose scorers were Amy Makewell (2) and Rebecca Edge. Royston Town meanwhile won 3-1 away to Needham Market thanks to an Emma Slater double and Poppy Smith.
The top of the table clash in Division One North went the way of Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers, who regained the leadership with a 3-2 victory over Harpenden Town. Victoria Leyer (2) and Rosie George scored for Dussindale, with Sophia Amanor netting twice in reply. Newmarket Town continue to follow on in third, they beat Wootton Blue Cross Lionesses 4-1 with goals from Abbie Corbyn, Holly Dryland, Katie Hayes and Katie Walker. Anaise Corrigan, Stephanie Fausse and Mathilda Fidler were on target for Stevenage Women Development in their 3-0 success away to Thetford Town.
Watford Development made it ten wins out of ten in Division One South when running out 5-0 winners over Stanway Pegasus Ladies. Gerrasimina Yiannopoulos (2), Etta Sam, Rebecca Lovelace and Jada McGibbon scored the goals for Watford who head the table by five points from Southend Utd Community SC, 6-3 victors against Wodson Park thanks to braces from Ellie Nicholls and Emily Pert, with Jordan Castle and Beth Cooper adding the others. Lucy Critchell scored a hat-trick and Abigail Fry added the other as third placed Hutton defeated Hertford Town 4-0. Layla Kenny netted both goals as Billericay Town Development won 2-1 at Lawford and Cheshunt beat Wormley Rovers 3-1 with strikes from Khyrah Fagbemi, Lauren Casey and Ayse Bashkal.
London & South East League
The league returned to action on Sunday with the cups taking centre stage and league leaders Dartford went through to the quarter finals of the League Cup with a 5-0 victory over Aylesford. Nicha Dyett led the scoring with a hat-trick and there was one apiece from Emily Vaughan and Elizabeth Adams. The Darts will be at home to Millwall Lionesses who defeated Sutton Utd 6-2, courtesy of a Maizi Garwood hat-trick, Shannan Drewe, Maisie Joyce and Clementine Young. Ebbsfleet Utd meanwhile were knocked out by Saltdean Utd, who were 2-1 winners thanks to Georgia Bridges and Caitlin Sullivan. Saltdean will be up against Crawley AFC Women who were also 2-1 victors, after extra time against Actonians Ladies Res with strikes from Chloe Higham and Issy-May Connor. Georgia Heasman, Sophie Manzi and Lilly Lambird scored the goals as Fulham won 3-2 against Dulwich Hamlet Res after extra time and their next opponents will be Dulwich Hamlet’s first team, who beat Ashford Utd 4-1 with Summer Roberts, Lily Price, Martha Goddard and Angel Reid all getting on the scoresheet. Dorking Wanderers scored six times without reply past Herne Bay and will play the winners of the postponed tie between Enfield Town and Bromley FC Women. Katie Butts was on target twice for Dorking along with Charlotte Benson, Olivia Watson, Sarah Wentworth and Aileen Williams.
In the League Trophy, Eleonora Cottrell and Kirsty Matthews scored the goals as Brentford won 2-1 away to Sport London e Benfica to reach the quarter finals where they will play Steyning Town Community, who ran out 4-1 winners over Bexhill Utd with Amber Hazlewood bagging a hat-trick and Sami Phillips adding the other. Abigail Igbavboa scored the only goal of the game for Whyteleafe as they beat Hastings Utd 1-0 and their opponents in the last eight will be Richmond Park, who won 3-1 at Ashmount Leigh courtesy of a Noemie Pacatte double and Alina Kerl. Dartford Res emerged as 3-1 extra time winners from their tie with Eastbourne Utd, Abi Potter-Scarborough and Annie White both finding the net along with an own goal to set them up with a tie against Newhaven, 2-1 victors at Denham Utd thanks to Charlotte Carter and Paige Ripley. Tara Barratt, Katherine Davyson and Lou Tindall were the markswomen for Montpelier Villa as they defeated Hassocks 3-0 and they will play either Bognor Regis Town or Hackney.
North East League
In the only Premier Division match to be played on Sunday, Hull Utd put a spoke in Alnwick Town’s title challenge by beating them 2-1. Millie O’Neill and Lauren Tate scored the goals which have taken Hull out of the bottom three, whilst Alnwick’s consolation strike came from Libby Rees.
Sunderland U23 have edged two points ahead at the top of the Northern Division following their 4-0 victory over Thornaby Ladies, in which Rhiannon Mallaburn, Mia Lawrence-Kay, Ella West and Alex Kelly all scored. Sunderland’s two nearest rivals met each other with Wallsend BC Res and Ponteland Utd battling out a 1-1 draw, goals coming from Rachel Hepple and Sophie Curle respectively. Sophie White, Anna Mawston and Robyn Wrigley accounted for the goals as Norton & Stockton Ancients Res ran out 3-0 winners over Gateshead FC Ladies.
Millmoor Juniors Ladies are the new leaders of the Southern Division following their 3-1 victory away to York RI in which Crystal Lisle, Abby Watkinson and Maddison Lees were all on target. Previous leaders York City Development crashed to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Ossett Utd, for whom Debbie Hastings (2), Jordane Allison, Elizabeth Ashcroft and Danielle Sidebottom all scored. Chesterfield are only three points off the pace after scoring eight times without reply past Ripon City, Chloe Foster bagging a five-goal haul and the others coming from Lexie Butterworth, Leah Harrison and Paige Singleton. Naomi Malcolm hit a hat-trick along with Nicola Smith (2), Aimi Beresford and an own goal as Altofts Ladies defeated Harworth Colliery 7-0, whilst Handsworth ran out 9-1 winners over Farsley Celtic Juniors thanks to a Danielle Pinder hat-trick, Katie Jepson, Holly Mappin, Caitlan Tattershall, Demi West, Kayha Williams and Emily Clayton.
North West League
Tranmere Rovers were unable to take an opportunity to move level on points with league leaders Cheadle Town Stingers as they battled out a 4-4 draw with Salford City Lionesses. Bury FC Women meanwhile continued their climb up the table when goals from Emilia Nuttall, Mia Holden and Murron Alldread gave them a 3-2 victory against Crewe Alexandra.
Mancunian Unity made it eleven wins out of eleven in Division One North but only just, edging past Bolton Wanderers with a 3-2 victory, Molly Kay having scored both for the home side. Penrith AFC Ladies meanwhile moved into second place, five points off the pace, Abbie Forster netting twice and Kayleigh Wharton the other as they won 3-0 away to Haslingden. The other game in the division saw two of the bottom three meet each other and the spoils were shared as the clash between Morecambe and Carlisle Utd finished goalless.
In Division One South, Runcorn Linnets narrowed the gap on leaders Wythenshawe Women to three points by winning 7-1 at Altrincham. Mollie Bennett was on target twice along with Rebecca Barker, Chelsea Gillies, Beth Graham and Ellie Isherwood. Warrington Wolves Foundation are two further points adrift in third, they beat Poulton Vics 3-2 thanks to Kerry Baker (2) and Nicola Chatterley. Olivia Ellinson and Faye Stanhope were the markswomen for Mossley Hill as they won 2-1 against FC St Helens.
South West League
Only one match managed to beat the weather in the Premier Division on Sunday and Sherborne Town were able to step up their title challenge by winning 3-0 against Frampton Rangers. The home side went into the game having shown much improved form before the break but a Becky Narramore double, along with a goal from Isabella Foster, gave the Dorset side three important points.
Northern Division leaders Weston-super-Mare drew for the second match in a row, this time sharing a 1-1 scoreline with fast improving St Vallier. Yasmin Moorehead was on target for Weston, whilst Vallier netted through Ilarna Nche. Weston’s two nearest rivals, AEK Boco and Gloucester City, did not play whilst SGS Olveston Utd - who would have moved up to second with a win - were beaten 3-1 by Bitton. Abbie Woodley-Marshall and Becky Jones fired Bitton into a two-goal lead at the break and after the O’s had reduced the arrears through Amelia Burnham, Anna Munday sealed the points with the third goal. Downend Flyers claimed their second win in as many matches, this time beating Bristol Rovers Development 4-2. Ellie Brockton, Brooke Moore and Beth Pitman all scored for Downend along with an own goal, whilst both of Rovers’ replies came from Lola Paul.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town are back up into second place in the Eastern Division, moving above Stockwood Wanderers on goal difference after winning 5-1 at Frome Town. Libby Davies, Madeline Elliott, Hannah Gulliver, Jasmine Kennedy and Kelly Nightingale were all on the scoresheet for Bassett, with Keira-Leigh Underhill replying. Meanwhile, the other match in the division ended with honours even as Shaftesbury Ladies and Bath City Women battled out a goalless draw.
Saltash Utd are now heading the chasing teams in the Western Division following their 1-0 success away to Sticker Women. Wensday Wise scored the only goal of the game for the Ashes to take them into second, two points adrift of leaders Ilminster Town. Feniton were also narrow 1-0 winners against Middlezoy Rovers, an own goal separating the sides on the day.
Southern Region League
Bournemouth Sports are only two points behind leaders Ascot Utd following their 5-0 victory against Eastleigh. Emily Phillips netted a brace and there was one apiece from Rosie Eden, Jasmine Hughes and Hannah Bennett. Emily Harris and Georgina Tayman scored for third placed Oxford City in their 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers, who netted through Katie Riddington and Emma Newberry. Woodley Utd and Warminster Town meanwhile battled out a 1-1 draw, goals from Gemma Sims and Mia Blazey respectively, and Winchester City Flyers ran out 4-0 winners over Badshot Lea thanks to Jasmine Pearmine (2), Charlotte Warhurst and Emily McDonough.
Long Crendon have opened up a lead of three points in Division One North after a second half goal from Ellie Lovelock earned them a 1-0 success away to Kidlington Youth. Liberty Dieppe (2) and Ellie Ludgate-Williams were on the mark for Penn & Tyler’s Green as they beat Abingdon Utd Development 3-1 to move up to second, ahead of Wycombe Wanderers U23 who went down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Beaconsfield Town, whose scorers were Grainne McNally, Phillippa Lance and Ruby Harris.
One match was played in Division One South on Sunday, Havant & Waterlooville running out 4-1 winners over Bournemouth Sports Res to go second in the table. Sophie Lee and Emma-Jane May each begged doubles for the Hawks.
Woking FC Women and Ascot Utd were forced to replay their League Cup First Round tie after the original match was ruled null and void due to extra time having been played rather than going directly to a penalty shootout. Ascot had won 3-2 on that occasion and remarkably, this meeting was to go to penalties after the teams finished level at 3-3 before Ascot emerged as winners. Alix Todd, Kate Fox and Philippa Holden all scored for Ascot, with Woking responding through a Sheena Nichol double and Charlotte Keenan (see match report).
West Midlands League
The top two in the Premier Division are pulling away from the teams below, still headed by Worcester City after they defeated Solihull Sporting 5-1. Jessica Fassnidge was on target twice for Worcester along with Olivia Mitcham, Annie Highway and Holly Rogers. Lye Town meanwhile defeated Coventry Sphinx 4-0 to stay two points off the pace, Natasha Baptiste, Lafe Uche, Macy Fox and Britanee Iote scoring their goals. Nadia Bacciochi, Demi-Lee Rolph and Marsha Malik all netted for Knowle in their 3-3 draw against Lichfield City.
A win would have taken AFC Telford Utd top of Division One North but they remain in second after sharing a goalless draw with Port Vale, whose four-match winning run was brought to a halt. This meant that Walsall FC Women would be the new table toppers with a victory against local rivals Walsall Wood but again, they drew 2-2, goals from Freya Green and Rosie Hargreaves for Wood meaning that Newcastle Town remain as leaders despite not having a game. Coventry City stormed to a 12-2 victory against Darlaston Town, Sandra Dziedzic and Keleigh Marshall-Welch each hitting hat-tricks alongside Sophie Woodhead (2), Hannah Davis, Hollie Taylor and Lauren Bailey-O’Toole, while a Megan Chapman hat-trick, Emily Meanley and Daisy Wynn took Tamworth to a 5-1 success at Lichfield City Res.
Redditch Borough are within a single point of Division One South leaders Leamington Lions after a Millie Connolly-Heath brace and Katie Potter gave them a 3-1 win against Worcester City Development. Kelsey Green was on target for Rugby Town in their 1-1 draw with Bewdley Town and Droitwich Spa defeated Kingfisher 3-0, courtesy of a goal apiece from Isabelle Gibbons, Grace Osborne and Shannon Roberts. Alice Rogers bagged a double for Redditch Utd as they battled out a 2-2 draw with Sedgley & Gornal Utd, who netted through Ashlea Follows and Arshi Zahoor.
The last remaining First Round tie in the Premier Division Cup was played on Sunday and it was Coundon Court who advanced to the quarter finals, where they will play Lye Town, after Jessica Lundie scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 success against Kidderminster Harriers.
