Scottish Women’s Premier League

Rangers Women secured their place in the Sky Sports Cup Final for the fourth consecutive year after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Celtic, thanks to an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Jenna Fife.

Leanne Crichton's side, the holders who have lifted the trophy for the past three seasons, will now face Glasgow City in the decider at Fir Park on Sunday 29 March.

The Old Firm semi final at Broadwood Stadium was a pulsating encounter filled with goals, penalties, and late drama. Celtic took an early lead through Maria McAneny after 15 minutes, but Rangers responded quickly with Katie Wilkinson converting from the penalty spot shortly afterwards.

The visitors regained the advantage when Emma Lawton bundled the ball home, and Poppy Pritchard added a third from the spot to give Celtic a 3-1 lead before half time. Laura Berry pulled one back for Rangers just before the interval, then produced a crucial equaliser in the 90th minute to send the tie into extra time.

In the additional period, Celtic were awarded their second penalty of the match in the 98th minute, but Fife denied Saoirse Noonan with a fine save. The Rangers shot-stopper then became the hero in the shootout, saving from Claire Walsh and Maria McAneny as Rangers triumphed 4-2 on penalties to book their spot in the final.

Glasgow City also advanced to the showpiece after overcoming Hibernian 2-1 in a hard-fought semi

final at Meadowbank on Saturday evening.

Leanne Ross' side survived some early scares from the hosts before securing their place in the final. Hibs threatened inside the opening minutes, with Kathleen McGovern — making her first start since November — intercepting a goal kick. Rosie Livingstone struck the post, and Tegan Bowie fired the rebound over.

City responded swiftly, forcing an excellent save from Hibs goalkeeper Noa Schumacher with her feet to keep the scores level.

The breakthrough arrived in first-half stoppage time when Nicole Kozlova applied pressure on Hibs defender Rachael Boyle, nipping in to poke the ball past Schumacher. Shortly after the restart, City nearly doubled their lead, but defender Ellis Notley and Schumacher combined to block efforts on the line. Substitute Chloe Warrington made it 2-0 with a stunning strike into the top corner midway through the second half.

Hibs hit back with half an hour remaining as Kirsten Reilly scored directly from a free kick on the edge of the box. The hosts pressed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages but were unable to find a way through, ensuring Glasgow City progressed to face Rangers in the final.

Hamilton Academical were denied their first win of the season by a late equaliser from Aberdeen. The hosts took the lead through Josephine Giard, only for Darcie Miller to level before half time. Georgia Gray then restored Hamilton's advantage from the penalty spot just before the break.

The game remained 2-1 until the 80th minute when Miller converted a penalty to earn Aberdeen a share of the points. Hamilton remain 11 points adrift of second bottom Aberdeen in the table.

Kilmarnock power on at the top of the table and stay thirteen points clear following a 5-0 victory away to Dundee Utd. Kaitlyn Canavan gave Killie an early lead and they went on to crown the win with further goals from Lucie Burns, Arwen O’Brien, Louise Cowan and Kelsy Crainie. Queen’s Park meanwhile won 1-0 at Boroughmuir Thistle, Summer Thomson’s second half goal means that the Spiders have replaced their opponents in second place, just ahead of Spartans who defeated Gartcair Women 2-0 thanks to Natalie Bandura and Izzy Young. Justine Strain hit a hat-trick, along with Nicole Cairney, Dionne Brown, Eve Donald and Megan Whiteford as Livingston ran riot at St Johnstone, winning 7-3 with the home side’s replies coming from Eirinn McCafferty, Elvie McLean and Jodie Malcolm. East Fife meanwhile enjoyed only their second league win of the season, beating Stirling University 4-0 thanks to a Teri Skivington hat-trick and Chloe Guppy.

On Wednesday night, Boroughmuir Thistle went level on points with second placed Queen’s Park after Fiona Gibson and Ami Robertson gave them a 2-1 victory against Gartcairn Women, who replied through Madison Maxwell.
