Wales name venue for World Cup play-off

Parc y Scarlets will host the second leg of Wales’ 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Round One play-off against Albania on Tuesday 13 October (KO TBC).

Wales return to Llanelli following a dominant display there in March against Montenegro in the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers. With Hannah Cain and Mared Griffiths both scoring two goals, and Sophie Ingle and Rachel Rowe also on the scoresheet, the Red Wall had plenty to cheer about.

Rhian Wilkinson hopes to see the fans out in their numbers once again for the Round One play-off. “I really enjoy playing in Llanelli,” she said. “The atmosphere is always great, and The Red Wall will play a huge part in helping us get over the line in what will be another tough game. I hope that together we can create another special night at Parc y Scarlets.”

Play-off Process

Wales will face Albania in a two-leg first round play-off. Should Rhian Wilkinson’s side progress, they will then face the winners of Romania and Norway in a two-leg second round play-off in the November/December international window, with the home leg taking place at Cardiff City Stadium.

Ticketing information for the match in Llanelli will be available in due course.
