Hull finish on winning note

Northern Premier Division

Burnley FC Women will finish the season in fourth place after beating Middlesbrough 6-1 in their last game. Evie Priestley led the scoring for the Clarets by hitting a hat-trick - which took her to 15 for the season and jointly topping the divisional goal charts - and the others came from Dominique Cooper, Nicola Worthington and Katie Thomas, with Armani Maxwell netting a consolation for 'Boro.

Two first half goals took Hull City to only their second league win of the season, which ensures they will not finish on the bottom. Helen Lynskey netted twice to pull Hull two ahead inside the opening twenty minutes at Huddersfield Town and despite the home side reducing the arrears on the half hour through Laura Elford, Hull held on for a notable 2-1 victory.

Runners-up Newcastle Utd made sure that they ended the season in style, by running out 8-1 winners over Barnsley and they will finish three points behind title winners Liverpool Feds. Lauren Robson hit a hat-trick for the Magpies and Brooke Cochrane weighed in with a further two, and they were joined on the scoresheet by Katie Barker, Beth Guy and Rebecca Ferguson. Eve Marshall scored a consolation goal for Barnsley late on.

Bradford City rounded off what has been a good second half of the season for them by winning a thrilling match 4-3 at Alnwick Town. Charlotte Stuart was on target twice for Bradford along with Emma Elliot and Hope Knight, with Alnwick replying through a Lucy Bowman brace and Sophie Williams.

After winning the Northern Division title seven days earlier, Huddersfield Town showed no signs of slowing down with another victory, 2-1 against Stockport County. Cassidy Clift and Sian Gibrill-Keating put Town two ahead during the first half, with Georgia Johnson pulling a goal back after the break. Middlesbrough meanwhile ran out 5-2 winners away to Barnsley after having suffered a 4-1 defeat in midweek to Brighouse Town, who scored through doubles from Beth Davies and Imogen Porteous-Williams.

West Bromwich Albion will finish in second place in the Midland Division, following their 6-3 win away to Loughborough Lightning in the last match of the season. Natasha Bailey hit a hat-trick for Albion and Nyara Denny contributed a brace with Annabel Sime also on target, whilst Loughborough replied through Doris Greenwood, Mathilda Finburgh and Millie Quaintance.
