England Under-19 crash out of Finals

Germany Under-19 3 England Under-19 0

England have crashed out of the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championships following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Germany in their final group game in Karvina.

Both teams have actually exited the competition as the other match finished in a 1-0 win for Norway against Sweden, and defeat means that England end up at the foot of the group despite having beaten the Norwegians - who were the group winners - in their opening game.

The match opened with a frenetic pace and both teams had opportunities to score but a minute before half time, Germany took the lead when Sarah Mattner followed to slot home after Khiara Keating had saved Mia Buchele's initial shot.

It could have been two before the interval as Felicitas Kockmann seized on a loose pass but she blazed her shot over the bar.

After the break, Germany continued to dominate matters and news that Norway had taken the lead meant that England had to push forward to try and turn matters in their favour.

However, things were to get worse as Sofie Zdebel rifled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area to double Germany's advantage with three minutes remaining, and England's fate was sealed in injury time when Mattner was put through on goal and slid the ball past Keating for her second.
