Capital joy for Brentford
Brentford 4 Leatherhead 0
A crowd of 324 saw Brentford lift the Capital Intermediate Cup with a 4-
The London and South East Regional Division One North runners-
The last thing the Surrey underdogs needed was an early goal for Bees but Chloe Logie was on hand to convert player of the match Nikki Woods' fine work down the left in the fifth minute.
Maddie Phillips added a second with an excellent strike from 25 yards which even drew applause from opposition players and the Tanners had a mountain to climb.
Leatherhead responded well and drew the first save from Evie Witek with a Megan Button shot on 23 minutes. However it was the clinical Logie with her 49th goal of an amazing season who added the third shortly before the break.
Leatherhead started the second half well and really tested the Brentford defence and keeper with crosses and set pieces but the final shot was always lacking the power and precision to score the goal their efforts deserved.
Bees were able to give game time to several substitutes and it was one of them, Lucy Bolitho, who scored the fourth late on after an initial good save from Lara Burrows had rebounded kindly.
Having missed out on promotion, Brentford won the first of two Cup finals whilst the young Leatherhead side will taste higher level competition every week next season after their title win.
