Regional Leagues round-up…
East Midlands League
On Tuesday night, Chesterfield made a swift return to the top of the Premier Division in the only match played over the past week. Jordan Atkin, Abigail Barham and Kelly Fidler scored the goals to give them a 3-0 victory over Basford Utd, which takes them back above Sheffield FC.
Every team in Division One North has at least a point after the solitary match finished with scores level. Rebecca Hill and an own goal earned Buxton FC Women a 2-2 draw against Notts County Development, who replied through Lucy Davey and Summer Oliff.
There was a change of leadership in Division One South, with New Bradwell St Peter ascending to the top after beating Long Buckby 2-0, Megan Smart and Emily Hale scoring their goals. Mia Richards and Rachel Beswick were the markswomen for Northampton Town Development as they won 2-0 at Cardea Ladies, their first victory of the season.
Eastern Region League
Division One North leaders Harpenden Town saw their winning start to the season brought to a halt by Whittlesey Athletic, who held them to a 1-1 draw. Holly Plummer was on target for Whittlesey, with Harpenden netting through Sophia Amanor. Alice Collins and Frances Peeling accounted for the goals as Thetford Town won 2-1 at Stevenage Women Development to lift themselves into a mid-table position.
Colney Heath are back on top of Division One South after a week away, following their 2-1 success away to Frontiers in which Olivia Corbett and Melissa Godino were on target. Cheshunt’s struggles continue as they fell to a heavy defeat at Lawford, Megan Foord leading the scoring with a five-goal haul whilst Sophia Knight and Ella Martin both hit hat-tricks, along with Georgia Box, Zoe Smith and Georgia Raby.
London & South East League
Whilst most of their nearest rivals were in FA Cup action, Actonians Ladies Res took the opportunity to move into the top three in Division One North with a 4-3 victory over Richmond Park, courtesy of Lauren Thompson, Emma Welch, Shadia Edwards-Dashti and Sara Lopez Ezzahiri. Clapton Community notched up their second win in as many weeks, Emily Link netting twice along with Egle Trezzi, Marta Casanovas, Aimee Shaw and Julia Moulton as they beat Ashmount Leigh 6-3.
In Division One South, leaders Saltdean Utd Developmentstretched their advantage at the top to five points after they edged out Bexhill Utd 4-3. Mollie Cooper, Isabelle Stray, Emily Towner and Amy White all scored to help Saltdean to a fourth straight victory.
North East League
Grace Campbell and Kate McSorley were on the scoresheet as Norton & Stockton Ancients Res won for the third time in a row, 2-1 at Hartlepool Utd to keep hold of the leadership of the Northern Division on goal difference from Gateshead FC Ladies, who defeated Bishop Auckland 3-0 thanks to Jessica Douglas, Kate Brooks and Chianna Rebair. Meanwhile, i2i International Soccer Academy won for the first time, 5-2 against Wallsend BC Res, Kelly Garcia leading the scoring with a four-goal haul and Esa Cullinan was also on target, whilst strikes from Katelyn Mitchell, Rebecca Ward and Amy Wharton took CLS Amazon to a 3-0 victory at Redcar Town.
In the Southern Division, Altofts Ladies claimed their first win of the season when netting six time without reply past Kiveton Park with Emily Scott, Nicola Smith and Natalie Dean all bagging doubles. Lower Hopton are also off the mark, they beat Sheffield Utd Community Foundation 4-0 thanks to a Mia Moorhouse hat-trick and Olivia Grogan.
North West League
The two teams at the foot of Division One North met each other on Sunday and it was Fleetwood Town Wrens Res who were to finish as 4-2 victors against Hindley Juniors Women. Emerald Parker, Ruby Farrell, Lauren Hardman and Mollie Mullender accounted for the goals as Fleetwood moved themselves out of the bottom two, with Grace Flinn and Sam Pilling replying.
It was a similar story in Division One South, where Ellesmere Port Town notched up their first points of the season when beating Litherland Remyca 2-1 with Gillian Herring and Ashleigh Hayes scoring their goals.
South West League
Cirencester Town lifted themselves up into fourth place in the Division One North table when they ran out 4-1 winners over Corsham Town. Amelia Dudding, Clare Hill, Shannon King and Phoebe McGouran all scored for Ciren, whilst Corsham’s consolation came from Darcey Banfield. Cirencester were the day’s only winners in the division after the other two matches finished level, Bath City Women and Paulton Rovers battling out a goalless draw whilst Rosanna Blacker and Olivia Hood were on target as SGS Olveston Utd shared four goals with Purton FC Women, who had twice taken the lead through Jasmine Payne and Kacie Anderson.
Weymouth have taken over the leadership in Division One South by scoring five times without reply against Bideford. Emily Screen bagged a hat-trick whilst Lucy Roberts and Ruby Clark added the other goals to secure a third straight victory for the Terras. Sticker Women meanwhile claimed their first win, 2-1 at Honiton Town thanks to a double from Tori Marks, with Nicola Brown replying.
Southern Region League
Mia Thomson, Nicole Brown, Lucy Casey and Katie Riddington were all on the scoresheet as Division One North leaders Beaconsfield Town ran out 4-1 winners over Chesham Utd Development to stay one point in front of Abingdon Utd Development who beat Caversham Utd 3-0 courtesy of a Ruby Herring double and Iva Georgievska. Ascot Utd Res now complete the top three after Sarah Jones (2) and Laura Moss fired them to a 3-0 success away to Slough Town and in the other game, Henna Hussain was on target for Penn & Tyler’s Green in their 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers U23, who netted through Poppy Lloyd.
One match was played in Division One South, a point would have seen Bournemouth Sports Res take over the leadership but instead, they were beaten 3-1 by Wimborne Town, who move up into third place. Ellie Chaffe spearheaded the win with a hat-trick for Wimborne, Chloe Ashton replying.
West Midlands League
The only action in the league on Sunday took place in Division One South, where Worcester City Res got off the mark with a huge victory against Leamington Lions. Kimmi Tanner-Joyce led the scoring with a hat-trick whilst Elizabeth Isaparro, Tilly Pearson and Holly Rogers all bagged braces and there was one apiece from Tinny Conway, Lauren Smith, Lottie Watson and Ellie Roberts. Libby Drapier, Lisa Preece and Shannon Roberts were all on target for Droitwich Spa in their 3-3 draw with Solihull Moors Res, who netted through Evie Burke, Laraleigh Borland and Eva Cassidy.
