Scottish Women’s Football League


Elgin City capitalised on a first half sending off for Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Maisie Hoath to win the first ever competitive Moray Firth derby in the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship 8-2.    


Caley Thistle had pulled ahead 2-1 thanks to a Julia Scott strike after 20 minutes, but eight minutes later Hoath saw red for a second booking for handball, and Evie Bereznaka equalised before Norwegian striker Mia Lundberg scored a hat-trick as the home side pressed the advantage in the second half.


Bonnyrigg Rose replaced Stirling University at the top of the Barclays Championship table with a 6-2 victory. Dryburgh Athletic winger Clara Laing scored the only goal of the game in Dundee to beat Ayr United 1-0 and move her side into second, while Cheryl Kilcoyne scored a brace as Forfar Farmington earned their first win of the campaign 2-1 at home to Morton.


Stenhousemuir left Dunipace with a 3-2 victory, meaning the newly-promoted Denny side are still looking for their first win in tier three.


Bishopton remain at the top of Barclays Scottish Women’s League One after coming from a goal down to beat Airdrie 4-1, with Dunfermline Athletic also keeping up a 100% record with an impressive home win 5-1 against Queen of the South in Fife.


A late goal by Charley Henderson gave Huntly an away win against fellow League One newcomers Giffnock SC, while Edinburgh South were held to a 1-1 draw in the capital by visiting Inverurie Loco Works. Cambusdoon beat St Mirren 4-1 at home.


In the group stages of the ScottishPower Regional League Cup, the Aberdeen derby saw a thrilling 3-3 draw between City and West End, while Stonehaven v Dundee East held the same scoreline. Annan Athletic beat new side Clydesdale 7-3, Musselburgh Windsor defeated Edinburgh Caledonia 4-0 and Thornton Hibs beat Jeanfield Swifts 3-1.
