Scotland name U23 squad for challenge matches

Angie Hind has named her first Scotland Women’s Under-23 squad ahead of next month’s matches.

Hind has selected a 20-player squad for the upcoming window. The Young Team will kick off their double header at home against Germany before travelling to face the Netherlands four days later.

The first match against Germany on Thursday 8 October (7pm) will be played at Prestonfield Park in Linlithgow, admission to the match is free. The second game in the Netherlands is on Monday 12 October (7pm) at Stichting Juliana Sportpark, Gravenzande.

Last time out at home, the Under-23s lost 4-0 to the Netherlands in Inverness in front of a record crowd for a women’s match in the city. In April, Scotland were held to a 0-0 draw with Denmark after falling to a 1-nil defeat to France in a friendly tournament in Pinatar.

Former Scotland captain, Rachel Corsie, has been named as assistant coach for the upcoming Under-23 matches. Corsie will be in the staff group alongside former Scotland international, Fiona Brown as the teams' sports scientist.
