Georgia Stanway wins England’s top goalscorer

Georgia Stanway has been presented with the England Women’s top goalscorer award for the 2025-26 season in association with M&S Food.

The midfielder scored nine goals in nine appearances across the season for the Lionesses. One of the standout moments of her campaign came at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE, in November 2025, when she became just the third Lioness, joining Beth Mead and Aggie Beever-Jones, to score an international hat-trick at the national stadium during England’s 8-0 victory against China PR.

Stanway received the award at St George’s Park, ahead of the World Cup play-offs against Greece. “I’m very honoured. You can’t do it alone and you can’t do it without your team mates. They’re just as deserving of this as I am.

“My hat-trick at Wembley against China was probably my favourite moment. There have been a few times where I’ve scored twice but never quite made it to three, so getting my first England hat-trick was really special. I’d also mention the goal away to Ukraine from the edge of the box into the top corner. If I’m being totally honest, I can’t remember all nine of them!”

England are preparing for their FIFA Women’s World Cup Round 1 Play-Off against Greece. The first leg will take place at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion, Crete, on Friday 9 October (7.30pm local time, 5.30pm BST). Before the Lionesses host the return fixture at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on Tuesday 13 October (7.30pm).
