First Tendring Wildcats Festival creates opportunities

Female football in Tendring has received a boost following the first ever Essex County FA Wildcats Football Festival, which was delivered to provide girls in the area with another local opportunity to enjoy the game.

The original festival at Clacton Leisure Centre was the first in a planned series which is continuing into the 2026-27 season.

Essex County FA Football Development Officer, Harry Moreton, explained: “The initial session was a great success, with 20 new and existing players taking part. It was fantastic to welcome players from five different clubs and see them enjoying football together.”

The first festival was led by Football Development Officer, Emma Burden, alongside Women’s Community Football Officer, Donna Fletcher. Tendring has been identified as a priority area for the development of women’s and girls’ football. With fewer local opportunities currently available, the festival programme will help girls to access football closer to home and support the continued growth of the female game across the district.

Further Wildcats Festivals are planned in Tendring during the 2026-27 season.
